Big security boost in J&K ahead of assembly polls; Home Ministry equips 200 VDG members with SLR rifles
Ahead of Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls, in response to rising terrorism instigated by Pakistan, the Home Ministry has equipped 200 Village Defense Guard (VDG) members in Akhnoor with SLR rifles. This significant move aims to bolster local defence against anti-national elements and terrorists targeting border villages. The increased armament is expected to enhance local security and confidence among residents, particularly in the lead-up to the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative not only aims to curb terrorist activities but also ensure a peaceful and stable electoral process.
