Attuned to its commitment towards innovation, Wiley, a global leader in scientific research and career-connected education, today announced its expansion into the Union Public Services Commission’s exam (UPSC) preparation market in India. The objective is to become an integral part of an aspirant’s learning journey and connect millions of aspirants to their ultimate goal of serving the country.
The UPSC Civil Services Examination is considered to be one of the toughest exams in the country and attracts a large number of applicants every year. The exam is conducted to select candidates for the most coveted administrative and management positions in the Indian government, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), among others. The UPSC Civil Services Examination consists of three stages- Preliminary Exam (Prelims), Mains and Personality Test or Interview. Through its focus on UPSC exam prep portfolio, Wiley in India aims to provide learners with online mock and practice tests supported by remedial content for the Prelims exam i.e., the first of the screening stage.
The Civil Services Prelims Exam requires rigorous preparation across a wide array of subjects – History, Geography, Economics, Art & Culture etc. The Company is planning to launch a series of practice and mock tests- Fundamental, Applied & Comprehensive, each designed with a unique and a special objective. The Fundamental and Applied test series will help learners gauge their subject or topic-wide expertise whereas the Comprehensive test series will help them evaluate their overall readiness for the Prelims exam. Learners will also be provided with remedial content for each mock test or practice paper. Based on adaptive learning experience, the Company in India also aims to offer insightful reports backed by metacognitive data to the test takers so that each aspirant can focus on specific areas of improvement, subsequently helping them elevate their performance and scores.
Ms. Vibha Mahajan, Senior Director for Academic business at Wiley in India said, “The online examination preparation market in India has seen significant growth in recent years due to the increasing preference towards online learning and the convenience it offers. The growth of the market has also been driven by the increasing use of smartphones and the availability of low-cost internet services, which has made it easier and cost-effective for students, especially in tier 2 and tier 3 cities to access study material online and take mock tests on the go. In India, the UPSC Civil Services Examination is considered one of the toughest competitive exams, and the competition is intense. As a result, students are always looking for new and innovative ways to prepare.
