TechVariable is associated with the various processes of recruitment through campus placements, direct applications, and referrals. During the process, it was discovered that there is a discrepancy between the college curriculum and the necessary industry standards, which accounts for the extraordinarily low selection rate of applicants for TechVariable interviews. With the goal to uplift and upskill the students the Training and Placement Conclave was organised where a number of incharges of training and placement from prestigious colleges in Assam, as well as a select few from the industry, were invited to offer their insightful perspective and training so that the attendees can have the best of both worlds.

Appreciating the efforts of bringing together academia and corporate on one platform, Hiten Choudhury, Associate Professor, Computer Science & IT at Cotton University, said, "All stakeholders in the education and industry ecosystems must come together to build curriculums that are employment-oriented and encourage aspirants to learn new skills and competencies."

Pubali Borthakur, Senior Director, People & Talent Operations at Zaloni, said, "There is a need to establish a single point of contact between aspirants from different educational institutions and corporate leaders so that a constant exchange of information can be ensured between participating stakeholders. Learners also need to sharpen their soft skills as lacking these critical abilities could hamper their growth in the corporate world."

Emphasizing the importance of learning core subjects, Pijush Chandra Das, Deputy Director of Tezpur University, said, "Students need to learn mathematics and statistics thoroughly as understanding these subjects will help them to gain quality employment in the corporate world. In addition, learners must also focus on their soft skills to further ensure holistic development of their personalities."

The student coordinators and placement secretaries of the higher educational institutions were also present, along with the professor in charge of training and placement, to discuss their thoughts on and pain points related to the recent placement scenario, as well as their goals for a career in IT.

TechVariable is an end-to-end software services company consisting of a dynamic team with the best of talents. It was founded in 2015 in Guwahati, Assam, with the goal of strengthening the IT ecosystem of Northeast India and developing a platform that would allow Assam's indigenous IT population to work closer to home. The company has set plans to work with all of the Training and Placement cells of all the institutions in Assam and the Northeast to enhance and create industry exposure as well as bring the curriculum up to par with industry standards.

Post the conclave, TechVariable is planning to host intra- and inter-college hackathons, online and offline coding workshops, personal coding assessments, one-on-one mentoring sessions with senior technologists, guidance sessions on working with new age technologies, and a variety of sessions to help the students understand the importance of improving their interpersonal and technical skills.
