Sensex gains 200 pts, Nifty above 16,100; FMCG, PSBs rally

The domestic markets opened on a slightly positive note Wednesday as investors digested the June retail inflation data, which eased marginally to 7.01 per cent.

Asian Paints, L&T, HUL, SBI, Power Grid, NTPC, Bajaj Finance, TCS and Infosys led gains on the Sensex, while HCL Tech, Tech M, Dr Reddy's, and HDFC Bank were the only losers.

At 9:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 54089.51 up by 202.9 points or by 0.38 % and then NSE Nifty was at 16113.45 up by 55.15 points or by 0.34 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 54211.22 and intraday low of 53985.68 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 16139.6 and intraday low of 16105.65

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 12072.35,+1.79%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2484.75,+1.45%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2932.10,+1.38%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 5947.15,+1.25%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1674.00,+1.22%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 908.65,-2.09%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2413.20,-0.29%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1389.00,-0.19%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 4477.80,-0.17%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 851.00,-0.02%), among others.

Realty index was at 3370.26 up by 44.32 points or by 1.33%. Macrotech Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1130.00,+3.04%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 674.00,+1.88%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 353.05,+1.83%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 851.15,+1.65%), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 64.60,+1.41%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2560 , shares advanced were 1872 while 583 shares declined and 105 were unchanged.
