Indian rupee strengthened marginally against the US dollar on Friday tracking weak American currency at overseas markets. Although, weakness in domestic equities, foreign fund outflows and rising crude oil prices, and concerns over higher US interest rates as inflation persists, have limited further gains in rupee. Foreign Institutional Investors were net sellers in the capital markets on Thursday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 1,510.86 crore, exchange data showed.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 83.07, stronger by 2 paise from its previous close of 83.09 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 83.0950 and 83.0275 respectively.
