Nifty outlook

Post expiry of Jan contract, FIIs now hold 61.8% of index futures as longs. In the index option segment, put longs dominate, making up 38% of the holdings, while the call shorts constitute the lowest. Among stock futures, positions were not unwound much, and longs constitute more than 56% of the segment. Most of the fresh interest into Feb monthly and weekly contracts have gone into OTM calls as shorts, following Jan expiry. 4Feb weekly found the highest OI jump at 16000, while highest volume in the feb monthly was seen at 15000. Weekly puts found the highest OI jump at 12500. The monthly contracts are yet to become active enough to be directionally significant.
