Over 50% IndiGo flights delayed as crew members go for job interviews

More than half the flights operated by IndiGo were delayed on Saturday after a large number of cabin crew members of the airline did not report for duty. Sources said that they actually went for job interviews but reported sick at the last moment, throwing the airline’s operations in jeopardy. Tataowned Air India, as well as Jet and Akasa, is in the midst of a massive recruitment drive.IndiGo, known for its on-time performance, had only 45 per cent of its flights departing on time; more than 850 flights took off more than 15 minutes after their scheduled time. The airline operated around 1,600 flights on Friday and had to cancel around 50 flights. Irate passengers took to social media expressing displeasure over the delays due to which many of them missed their connecting flight or train.

 

Vedanta Group eyes $3.5-bn turnover from chip biz, one-third from exports

Vedanta Group expects its semiconductor business turnover to be in the range of USD 3 to 3.5 billion out of which around USD 1 billion will come from exports, a senior official of the company said. Vedanta Group's global managing director of display and semiconductor business Akarsh Hebbar told PTI that its JV partner Foxconn has all the agreements and required technologies in place to start making electronic chips.

 

Maruti Suzuki looks to deploy strong hybrid tech across model range

Betting big on green technologies, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) plans to have strong hybrid technology across its model range in the next 5-7 years, as per a senior company official. The auto major aims to have strong and mild hybrid technologies as part of an initiative to have environment-friendly technology elements in each of its models, enabling better fuel efficiency and reduced carbon footprint.

 

NTPC signs MoU for 10 GW renewable energy park with Rajasthan govt

With an aim to achieve the target of 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, NTPC signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Government of Rajasthan for the development of 10 GW Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park in Rajasthan. The MOU signing ceremony was held on Friday in the presence of Rajasthan Energy Minister Bhanwar Singh Bhati.

 

D-Mart Q1 reports almost two-fold rise in revenue to Rs 9,806.89 crore

Avenue Supermarts Ltd, which owns and operates retail chain D-Mart, on Saturday reported a nearly twofold rise in its standalone revenue from operations to Rs 9,806.89 crore for the first quarter ended on June 30, 2022. The company had revenue from operations of Rs 5,031.75 crore in the AprilJune quarter a year ago, Avenue Supermarts informed BSE in a regulatory filing.

 

Coal India registers record 160 MT output in April-June this fiscal State-owned

Coal India on Friday said its coal production increased 29 per cent year-on-year to a record 159.8 million tonne (MT) in April-June this fiscal. It had produced 124 MT coal in the year-ago period, Coal India Limited (CIL)said in a statement
