Germany`s Minister Volker Wissing makes mobile payment via Paytm; Embassy hails its simplicity and speed
The Minister who is in Bengaluru for a G20 meeting scanned the Paytm QR code and was easily able to make the payment within seconds
Paytm has revolutionised India's payment landscape with its pioneering QR code. Empowering street vendors by giving them the solution to their payment needs, the company has taken QR code to every nook and corner of the country. The German Embassy in India has also hailed India's digital infrastructure and has highlighted how seamlessly UPI transactions are being done with the help of Paytm QR code.
The embassy shared pictures and a small video where Germany's Federal Minister for Digital and Transport Volker Wissing can be seen using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) to make a payment to a vegetable seller in Bengaluru. He scanned the Paytm QR code and was easily able to make the payment within seconds. He was impressed and fascinated with the speed of the transaction. Notably, Wissing was in Bengaluru to attend the G20 Digital Ministers Meeting held on August 19.
Describing India's digital Infrastructure as one of its success stories and how Federal Minister Wissin experienced the simplicity of UPI payments, the German Embassy India tweeted, "One of India’s success story is digital infrastructure. UPI enables everybody to make transactions in seconds. Millions of Indians use it. Federal Minister for Digital and Transport @Wissing was able to experience the simplicity of UPI payments first hand and is very fascinated!"
