Gold prices declined on active profit-taking as the dollar surges as well and becomes a preferred haven investment.
Dollar's surge is expanding as the west and Russia continue to impose reciprocal sanctions on each other amid the Ukrainian crisis.
Investors also expect the first interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve since December 2018 at the next Fed's meeting.
Gold holdings at the SPDR Gold Trust rose 13.36 tones to a total of 1,042.38 tones, the highest since July 2021.
