* Nifty traded dull in a narrow range and lost nearly half a percent, taking a breather after the recent surge.
* Most of the sectoral indices traded in tandem with the benchmark. IT, metal and energy were among the top losers.
* Consolidation can’t be ruled out but the tone is likely to remain positive. Positional support at 17,850 levels.
* Meanwhile, outcome of the US Fed meet, weekly expiry and earnings would keep the volatility high.

* Mixed trend was witnessed within the sector wherein HDFC Bank and Kotak Bank capped the damage.
* Indications are in favor of consolidation, in line with the benchmark index.
* Meanwhile, avoid aggressive trades and prefer to buy only on dips.
