Average daily traffic dips to 156k in last week of July

Weekly average daily fliers came in at 156k in the week ended (W.E) 31th Jul’21 vs 165k in the W.E. 24th Jul’21. For the W.E. 31th Jul’21, average number of departures dropped to 1,730 vis-à-vis 1,785 in the prior week. The number of fliers per departure declined to 90 vs 93 in the prior week.

June’21 market share update: Indigo / SpiceJet market share remained steady at 55% / 9% in Jun’21. Air India market share stood at 17% in June’21 vs 20% in May’21 and average 12% between Feb-Apr’21. Vistara and Go Air reported ~200bps / 100bps MoM improvement in Jun’21 to 8% and 7% respectively. Maintaining market share in a low PLF environment may however lead to more cash burn.

PLF improved sequentially in Jun’21 for all airlines: SpiceJet and Go Air reported highest PLF of 71% in June’21.
