Average daily fliers increases to 280k, PLF shows improvement
Weekly average daily fliers came in at 280k in the week ended (W.E) 16th Oct’21 vs 262k in the W.E. 9 th Oct’21. For the W.E. 16th Oct’21, average number of departures increased to 2,340 vs 2,225 in the previous week. The number of fliers per departure increased to 120 vs 118 in the prior week.
Overall PLF has remained healthy with gradual improvement: Air India and SpiceJet saw an improvement and operated at 76% and 83% in W.E 16th Oct’21
Highlights of the week:
* Government lifted all restrictions on domestic flight capacity wef 18th Oct’21. Now domestic airlines can fly 100% of their pre covid capacity against 85% earlier
* Akasa Air (backed by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala) got NOC from the Aviation ministry following which it will now apply for air operator permit from DGCA
* TATA group acquired 100% stake in Air India
