Mother of Indian Hockey Player Lalit Upadhyay, Rita Upadhyay on August 11 made a special demand from the government after her son performed well at Paris Olympics and won a medal. She said it’s a great achievement and a matter of great happiness and she also asked for Padma Shri award for her son.
She said, “He gave me his medal and I felt a sense of achievement. I don't have words to express my emotions. Lalit has become the only double-medalist from Varanasi. He was welcomed so heartily by one and all... He has reached here with the blessings of God... I urge PM Narendra Modi to award him with Padma Shri. He has won the Arjuna and Laxman awards.”
