Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the 340-km Purvanchal Expressway in March to connect Lucknow with Ballia, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Wednesday.
During the inauguration of the UP Diwas here, Adityanath said the project, costing Rs 23,000 crore, was expected to be completed by 2020.
The eight-lane Expressway will be built on the lines of the 304-km Agra-Lucknow Expressway. The Purvanchal Expressway was also conceptualised by the previous Samajwadi Party government.
The Adityanath government is also planning a 110-km four-lane Expressway to link the Chief Minister's hometown Gorakhpur with the proposed 340-km Purvanchal Expressway.
