At 9:45 a.m., Sensex was at 80,501, down 89 points or 0.11 per cent and Nifty was down 26 points or 0.12 per cent, at 24,504.

The Nifty snapped a four-week gaining streak on Friday, as it fell 2.1 per cent for the week and formed a bearish engulfing pattern on the weekly charts, said Deepak Jasani, Head of Retail Research, HDFC Securities.

Nifty snaps four-week gaining streak
The market breadth turned negative on Tuesday as the advance-decline ratio fell to 0.16:1, the worst since October 23, 2023, said Deepak Jasani, Head of Retail Research at HDFC Securities.
Nifty ended flat after a volatile session on Tuesday. At close, Nifty was up 0.01 per cent, or 3.1 points, at 22,335.7, while the Sensex was up 165.32 points, or 0.22 per cent, at 73,667.96.

Nifty rebounded on Tuesday, snapping a two-day decline in a choppy trading session, said Deepak Jasani, Head of Retail Research at HDFC Securities.
While the Nifty50 settled 0.34 per cent, or 76.3 points, higher at 22,198.35 on Tuesday, the BSE Sensex added 0.42 per cent, or 305.09 points, to close at 73,095.22.
The broad market indices ended marginally in the negative as the activity levels were concentrated in large and larger midcaps, Jasani said.
