Led by solar and wind energy, India has crossed the 200 gigawatt (GW)-mark in renewable energy (RE) production in the month of September. The government on Sunday said it has approved two more hydro pumped storage projects (PSPs) towards realising the country's renewable energy (RE) goals. The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) green-lighted these PSPs in Maharashtra —1,500 MW Bhavali PSP being developed by JSW Energy and 1,000 MW Bhivpuri PSP being developed by Tata Power. Coal India beats Q2 profit view on high power demand amid weak monsoon
A Central Electricity Authority (CEA) in its latest report has said that as many as 86 thermal power plants in the country, including six imported dry fuel-based, had critical coal stock levels as of October 18, 2023. The power plants are labelled as having a critical coal stock situation, where the dry fuel is less than 25 per cent of the normative level.
