Vadodara couple`s tiny room yields big success in Saffron cultivation
An industrious couple hailing from Vadodara achieved a groundbreaking feat by cultivating Kashmiri saffron within the confines of a 10-foot by 10-foot room. Both professionals, with Vaibhav engaged in stock trading and Aastha pursuing a research career, reaped a remarkable yield of 20 to 25 grams of saffron in their initial attempt. Diverging from their conventional careers, the couple delved into hydroponics and discovered aeroponics, a technique enabling the cultivation of saffron. Procuring saffron seeds from Kashmir, they successfully cultivated saffron flowers in their maiden effort. Vaibhav and Aastha aspire to transition their startup into an educational platform, offering training to those interested in adopting this farming method. Recognizing the high value of saffron as a commodity, the couple envisions Gujarat evolving into an exporter of spice.
