Sri Lankan delegation led by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana arrived in the Parliament on December 18. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla extended a warm welcome to the Sri Lankan delegation. Addressing the Parliament, Om Birla expressed delight in hosting the delegation, highlighting their visit to India since December 16 and their tour to Aurangabad. The Speaker announced the delegation’s upcoming visit to Guwahati before their departure to Sri Lanka. 
While addressing, the Speaker said, “I am happy to announce that today we have with us Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abewardhana and Srilankan delegation. They came to India on December 16 and then went to Aurangabad. All Srilankan delegation along with speaker Abeywardana will visit Guwahati before leaving to Srilanka.
Later, the Sri Lankan delegation proceeded to Rajya Sabha, where Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar welcomed them. 
Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said, “I have the great pleasure of welcoming His Excellency Mr. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana of the Parliamentary delegation of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and accompanying members of the Parliamentary delegation from Sri Lanka, who are visiting India as our honored guests. The parliamentary delegation from Sri Lanka has arrived in India, and now they are with us. We wish them a happy and fruitful stay in our country. Through them, we convey our greetings to MPs of Sri Lanka and the government and the friendly people of Sri Lanka.”
