Shares of some EV makers decline as Maharashtra government proposes 6% tax on EV

Shares of some electric vehicles makers traded lower as Maharashtra government has proposed a 6% tax on electric vehicles (EV) priced more than Rs 30 lakh in the budget for the fiscal 2025-26. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who also holds the finance portfolio, tabled the budget and announced a 1% hike in the Motor Vehicle Tax on CNG and LPG vehicles.
Mahindra & Mahindra is currently trading at Rs. 2663.70, down by 38.05 points or 1.41% from its previous closing of Rs. 2701.75 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 2693.95 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 2693.95 and Rs. 2614.05 respectively. So far 56943 shares were traded on the counter.
Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs. 203.65, down by 3.05 points or 1.48% from its previous closing of Rs. 206.70 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 204.30 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 204.90 and Rs. 199.10 respectively. So far 308046 shares were traded on the counter.
SML Isuzu is currently trading at Rs. 1167.95, down by 4.35 points or 0.37% from its previous closing of Rs. 1172.30 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 1155.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 1181.95 and Rs. 1147.65 respectively. So far 1218 shares were traded on the counter.
