SBI Funds Management Partners with Visionspring Foundation To Enhance Community Access To Primary Eyecare Services
SBI Funds Management Limited (SBIFML), as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to strengthening community health outcomes, has launched two MobilEYES Clinic Vans in partnership with VisionSpring Foundation. The initiative is designed to improve access to primary eyecare services for underserved communities across New Delhi and Bangalore.
Through this initiative, SBIFML aims to facilitate approximately 10,000 vision screenings annually and support the distribution of up to 7,500 pairs of eyeglasses for individuals requiring basic vision correction. The mobile units will operate within neighbourhoods, workplaces, schools, industrial areas, and transport hubs, helping ease barriers related to distance, affordability, and limited access to eyecare services.
As the implementation partner, VisionSpring Foundation will conduct comprehensive screenings, dispense corrective eyewear for presbyopia, and refer individuals requiring further medical attention - such as those with cataract?related concerns – to appropriate healthcare providers. A toll?free helpline will be available to support individuals needing follow?up assistance. The launch event in New Delhi was attended by senior representatives from SBIFML and VisionSpring Foundation, along with stakeholders from the broader eye?health ecosystem.
Mr. Debasish Mishra, Managing Director & CEO at SBI Funds Management Limited, said: “SBIFML remains committed to supporting community?focused initiatives that improve access to basic services. Through this programme, we aim to assist in bringing primary eye-care closer to people who may face challenges in availing such services. Our partnership with VisionSpring Foundation reflects our continued effort to contribute responsibly to community wellbeing.”
Anshu Taneja, Managing Director, India at VisionSpring Foundation, said: “Clear vision is fundamental for a person’s wellbeing and livelihood. Yet underserved communities face many barriers to accessing quality and affordable eyecare, whether it be long distance to the nearest hospital or clinic, high travel costs, inflexible working hours, or stigma around wearing eyeglasses. These are all barriers we aim to address with MobilEYES Clinic Vans, by bringing quality and affordable eyecare directly into communities. Through this partnership with SBI Funds Management Limited, we’re able to reach more vulnerable people and help them receive the eyeglasses they need to see clearly.”
Over the course of the year, SBIFML and VisionSpring Foundation will monitor the reach and effectiveness of the MobilEYES Clinic Vans and aim to expand the initiative to help more people access appropriate eyecare without having to travel long distances.
