Rupee weakens against US dollar on Friday

The Indian rupee weakened against the dollar on Friday, tracking weak domestic equities and foreign fund outflows amid US Federal Reserve's cautious outlook on interest rate cuts for the rest of the year. Foreign institutional investors sold equities worth Rs 3,077.59 crore on Thursday, exchange data showed. However, some falls were limited by lower crude oil prices and weaker American currency overseas.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 88.73, weaker by 4 paise from its previous close of 88.69 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 88.7425 and 88.5925 respectively.
