Rupee weakens against US dollar in early trade on Tuesday

The Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday, weighed down by a stronger American currency and rise in crude oil prices globally. Moreover, weak domestic equity markets followed by heightened uncertainty over US President Donald Trump's tariff policy and rising US-Iran tensions also dampened rupee sentiments. However, some falls were limited by exchange data that showing foreign institutional investors purchased equities worth Rs 3,483.70 crore on Monday.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 90.96, weaker by 7 paise from its previous close of 90.89 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 90.9675 and 90.91 respectively.
