Rapido Bike Pink Captain Roopa C's Journey from State-Level Athlete to Top Performer Highlights Women’s Growing Role in Mobility

With over 3,000 rides completed, Roopa’s journey with Rapido Bike Pink reflects how women are carving out new earning opportunities in urban mobility

Rapido, India’s largest and most affordable one-stop mobility platform, is redefining first- and last-mile connectivity across 400+ cities, with a strong focus on safety, affordability and reliability. Beyond making everyday travel more accessible, Rapido is committed to creating meaningful livelihood opportunities and enabling economic independence through its mobility ecosystem. Reflecting this commitment, Rapido Bike Pink is an initiative that connects women passengers with women Captains, offering women greater choice in their daily commute while opening new avenues for flexible employment and financial empowerment. Through a structured framework focused on professional training, safety certification and regulatory compliance, the initiative aims to equip women Captains with the skills and support needed to build sustainable and dignified livelihoods.

Among the women who have embraced these opportunities is Roopa C, a former state-level volleyball player whose journey from the volleyball court to navigating Bengaluru’s busy streets as a Rapido Bike Pink Captain reflects resilience, determination and adaptability. Having joined Bike Pink in search of employment, Roopa has since completed over 3,000 rides, carving out a new professional journey for herself and emerging as an active member of Rapido’s growing community of women Captains.

Her journey recently reached another milestone when she secured first place in Rapido’s nine-day performance competition, held from 1 to 9 October 2026, earning nearly Rs50,000 during the period. Her achievement was recognised at Rapido’s first-ever Reward and Recognition event for Bike Pink women Captains in Bengaluru, where she was felicitated for her performance.

A former state-level volleyball player, Roopa was introduced to Bike Pink when she came across the opportunity online while exploring employment options. She joined the platform at the time of its launch and has remained associated with Rapido ever since. What began as an opportunity to earn a livelihood has evolved into a new professional journey, one that has seen her complete thousands of rides and emerge as the top performer in the recent competition.

For Roopa, the transition from competitive sports to mobility represents a shift in career paths, but also reflects the determination to embrace new opportunities. Her experience highlights the growing participation of women in a sector traditionally dominated by men, and the possibilities that platforms such as Bike Pink are creating for women seeking independent earning opportunities.

Celebrating the women behind the rides

Roopa was among 250 Bike Pink women Captains who came together for Rapido’s first-ever Reward and Recognition event, held at Hotel Krishna Grand Party Hall, Madiwala, Bengaluru, in collaboration with World of Women NGO.

The event celebrated the contributions and achievements of women Captains, with 27 winners recognised for their performance during the nine-day competition. Prizes included gold and silver coins, a television and washing machines, among other rewards. While Roopa's achievement stood out, the occasion also brought attention to the collective journeys of women Captains who are building livelihoods and contributing to Bengaluru's everyday mobility ecosystem.

Going beyond performance recognition, Rapido also placed a focus on the health and well-being of its women Captains. In collaboration with World of Women NGO, the event featured a menstrual health and hygiene awareness session, along with the distribution of hygiene kits covering a one-year supply. Eye screenings were also organised for all 250 attendees, reinforcing the importance of preventive healthcare and overall well-being. All participating Captains received gifts and goodies, along with lunch and refreshments.

Speaking on the occasion, Rohit Rathod, Vice-President of Operations at Rapido, said, “At Rapido, we believe that recognising our Captains goes well beyond acknowledging the work they do every day. It is about valuing their contributions, celebrating their achievements, and supporting their well-being. Our

women Captains are an integral part of our mobility ecosystem, and initiatives like this give us an opportunity to recognise their journeys while addressing aspects of their health and well-being. We remain committed to creating opportunities for more women to participate in the mobility sector and building an ecosystem where their contributions are valued.”

Roopa's journey is one among many that reflect the changing face of urban mobility, where women are increasingly exploring opportunities beyond conventional employment pathways.
