Indian benchmark indices are expected to open on a flat to negative note today, with the GIFT Nifty indicating a marginal downtick of 32 points in the Nifty 50. Market sentiment remains cautiously optimistic; however, persistent volatility and mixed global cues continue to weigh on investor confidence.

On the technical front, the Nifty decisively breached the 25,000 mark and closed well below it, signaling a growing downside bias. Resistance is now placed around 25,000–25,050, while immediate support is seen near 24,700–24,750. The Bank Nifty also underperformed, witnessing selling pressure across both private and public sector banks.

The Bank Nifty closed below the 55,000 level, reflecting weakness. A decisive move above 55,200 could open the path toward 55,400–55,500, while on the downside, immediate support lies at 54,900. A sustained breakdown below this level may trigger further selling, with potential downside targets at 54,800 and 54,500.

On the flows front, FIIs extended their selling streak for the fourth consecutive session on September 25, offloading equities worth Rs.4,995 crore, while DIIs absorbed the selling with net purchases of over Rs.5,000 crore.

Given the backdrop of heightened volatility and uncertain global cues, traders are advised to adopt a cautious buy-on-dips strategy, book partial profits on rallies, and maintain tight trailing stop-losses to manage risk effectively. Fresh long positions should be considered only if the Nifty sustains above the 25,250 mark. While the broader trend remains cautiously bullish, close monitoring of key technical levels and global developments will be crucial in navigating today’s market session.
