Indian benchmark indices are expected to open on a positive note today, with the GIFT Nifty indicating an uptick of nearly 60 points in the Nifty 50. Market sentiment remains cautiously optimistic, though persistent volatility and mixed global cues continue to weigh on investor confidence.
The Nifty once again faced resistance near the 24,900 level for the second consecutive session and ended with a modest gain of 92 points. The index formed a small green candle with a long lower shadow on the daily chart, reflecting ongoing consolidation and intraday volatility. While buying interest is visible at lower levels, the 24,900–25,000 zone continues to act as a stiff hurdle. Immediate support is placed at 24,620, and as long as the index trades below 25,000, some consolidation or mild weakness may persist.
Bank Nifty closed at 54,216, up 30 points, after a volatile session that saw movement between 54,079 and 54,350. The index now faces resistance in the 54,500–55,000 zone, while support lies at 53,600–53,000. A decisive breakout above 55,000 could trigger fresh buying momentum, while range-bound trade between 53,600 and 55,000 may continue in the near term.
On the institutional front, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) snapped their 11-day selling streak by purchasing equities worth Rs.2,050 crore on September 9. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) also added equities worth Rs.83 crore on the same day.
Given the prevailing uncertainty and heightened volatility, traders are advised to adopt a cautious “wait-and-watch” approach, especially in leveraged positions. Booking partial profits on rallies and deploying tight trailing stop-losses remain prudent. Fresh long positions should be considered only if the Nifty sustains above the 25,000 mark. Overall, the outlook remains cautiously bullish, with close monitoring of breakout levels and global market cues crucial in the sessions ahead.
