US stock market’s October winning streak came to an end on Wednesday, but the major indexes are still hovering near record levels. ?

Dow Jones fell 341 points, S&P 500 fell 0.2%. Nasdaq dropped 0.2%.

The 10-year Treasury notes were sold at a yield of 5.30%, a payout that will be given to investors for the next decade semi-annually. This yield is 0.018 percentage points below the pre-bidding deadline level, which is another sign of strong demand.?

A brutal meltdown of long-term government bonds had set the stage for the auction. The 10-year yield climbed as high as 5.368% in the morning, a level not seen since 2002. Shortly after the auction, the 10-year yield fell as low as 5.273%, before rebounding slightly.

Traders see an 82.8% chance that the federal funds rate will hold steady, compared to a 17.2% chance of a quarter-point rate hike, On the flip side, traders see just a 16.9% chance of no hike this year.

For Nifty to turn bullish, we need a decisive breakout above 22740, followed by a sustained close above this level. Until then, we remain cautious on the upside
