"While the gross GST collection has shown a growth of 8.1% on a year-on-year basis, on a month-on-month basis, the gross GST collections have shown a reduction of ~5.1%.

With the new financial year around the corner, the States, while making their budgets for the next financial year, would now need to factor in the GST collections, which may grow at a slower pace on a month-on-month basis.

However, the increase in collections on a year-on-year basis, despite the major reduction in rate in September 2025, indicates growth in overall activity, and the intention of the Government to boost consumption by reducing GST rates seems to be working now."
