Market momentum is likely to remain constructive this week, with the final leg of the Q1FY27 earnings season set to drive both stock-specific and broader market action. As earnings announcements taper off, investors are likely to focus on the sustainability of the earnings recovery and emerging sectoral trends. Developments around the US-Iran negotiations, crude oil prices and US inflation data will remain key drivers of market direction and global risk appetite. Domestic equities started the week on a cautious note, with the Nifty 50 gaining 13 points to close at 24,583, supported by stock-specific buying amid the ongoing Q1FY27 earnings season. The Nifty Midcap 100 gained 0.6%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 declined 0.2%. Sectorally, Realty led the gains, while PSU Banks, Oil & Gas and Healthcare were among the key laggards. Meanwhile, the rupee weakened (?95.2/US$), and Brent crude rose 1% to US$84/bbl amid continued West Asia tensions and a stronger US dollar. Hopes of reopening of the Strait of Hormuz were tempered after Iran said reopening the key oil route is conditional on the US meeting several demands, including lifting sanctions and the naval blockade, keeping crude prices elevated and posing risks to India's inflation, rupee and current account outlook.
