The Nifty50 index closed lower on Monday, pressured by a sharp decline in IT stocks following the U.S. administration’s hike in H-1B visa fees to $100,000. Markets stayed cautious with mixed sector performance. Large-caps saw weakness, while broader participation was limited.

The Sensex fell 466.26 points, while the Nifty50 dropped 124.70 points to close at 25,202.35. Broader markets showed selective movement, with the BSE MidCap down modestly and the SmallCap slightly higher. Sectors like IT and some large-cap tech firms dragged the indices, while banking stocks provided some support; energy, pharma, autos, and metals showed mixed trends.

The Nifty50 held above the 25,150 mark, with support around 25,150 and resistance near 25,400. The BankNifty closed at 55,429.30, down about 0.27%, with gains in Canara Bank and Axis Bank, while AU Small Finance Bank, SBI, Federal Bank, and others lagged.

India VIX jumped 5.92% to close at 10.55, indicating a rise in market volatility and slightly higher investor caution compared to previous sessions. Options data highlighted 25,300 and 25400 as the key resistance and 25,050 and 25100 as strong support levels.
