"Indian equity markets closed on a firm positive note on November 17, 2025, after a session marked by volatility but an overall upward bias. The Sensex advanced 388.17 points, or 0.46%, to end at 84,950.95, while the Nifty gained 103.40 points, or 0.40%, to close at 26,013.45. Broader indices outperformed the benchmarks, with the Nifty Midcap Index hitting a fresh record high of 61,211.05 and the Nifty Smallcap Index rising 0.52%.

The Nifty opened with a healthy gap-up of around 38 points and traded in a sideways-to-bullish range throughout the day, reflecting steady buying interest and constructive sentiment. Immediate resistance is now seen at 26,100, followed by 26,150, while the 25,850–25,900 zone is expected to act as a strong accumulation area for positional traders. All major sectoral indices ended in the green, with auto, banking, real estate, capital goods, consumer durables, and PSU banks posting gains of 0.5–1%.

The Bank Nifty also showcased strength in line with broader market cues, indicating renewed buying momentum. Key support is placed at 58,600, and a breach of this level could result in a mild decline toward 58,800. On the upside, resistance remains at 59,100, and a successful breakout above this mark could potentially extend the rally toward 59,300.

Market volatility eased further, with the India VIX declining 1.26% to 11.78—signaling improved confidence among traders. In the derivatives segment, open interest data showed significant call writing at the 26,050 and 26,200 strikes, while maximum put OI was seen at 25,900, suggesting strong support at lower levels. Overall sentiment remains cautiously optimistic, and a sustained close above 26,050 will be key to strengthening bullish momentum and paving the way for further upside."
