Pharma stocks surge after govt announces tax exemptions

Stocks of pharmaceutical companies traded higher after Finance Minister announced exemptions from basic customs duty (BCD) for 36 life-saving drugs.
Ajanta Pharma is currently trading at Rs. 2729.70, up by 31.30 points or 1.16% from its previous closing of Rs. 2698.40 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 2789.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 2789.90 and Rs. 2704.05 respectively. So far 686 shares were traded on the counter.
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries is currently trading at Rs. 1756.70, up by 13.60 points or 0.78% from its previous closing of Rs. 1743.10 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 1749.95 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 1789.50 and Rs. 1743.95 respectively. So far 35612 shares were traded on the counter.
Biocon is currently trading at Rs. 363.55, up by 1.00 points or 0.28% from its previous closing of Rs. 362.55 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 360.80 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 367.45 and Rs. 358.20 respectively. So far 91422 shares were traded on the counter.
