Below the Perspective on the markets of Dr. Joseph Thomas, Head of Research, Emkay Wealth Management
“The markets traded in a narrow range for major part of the week as participants waited for the US FOMC meet outcome. The Fed Chair indicated that a September rate cut is very much on the table, if the incoming data is in line with policy objectives. The markets may have a positive reaction to this development but the excitement may be short lived, as a rate cut is traditionally associated with a weaking economic growth. From a global perspective, growth data and geopolitical escalations, if any, will remain in focus. On the domestic front, stock specific earnings outcome and RBI policy decision in the coming week may have a bearing on the markets.”
