NBFCs credit growth accelerates to 14.4% in June 2026: RBI data
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its latest report titled ‘Sectoral Deployment of Credit by NBFC - June 2026’ has showed that non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) maintained a credit momentum in June 2026, with credit growth accelerating to 14.4%, well above the 11.1% recorded a year earlier. The Data for the month of June 2026 is collected from major NBFCs and housing finance companies (HFCs).
According to the data of the sectoral deployment of credit by NBFCs for the month ended June 30, 2026, credit in agriculture and allied activities recorded a robust growth of 17.9 per cent (y-o-y) in June 2026 as against 5.1 per cent a year ago, while credit to industry grew by 6.7 per cent (y-o-y) in June 2026 as compared with 10.3 per cent in June 2025, primarily driven by subdued growth in infrastructure, a major constituent of the segment.
Besides, the report noted that credit growth in services sector moderated to 17.6 per cent (y-o-y) in June 2026 as against 22.4 per cent a year ago. While credit in ‘commercial real estate’ marked buoyant expansion, credit growth in ‘trade’ and ‘transport operators’ segments witnessed moderation. Further, retail loans growth accelerated to 20.3 per cent (y-o-y) in June 2026 compared to 14.3 per cent a year ago. Within retail loans, ‘housing’, ‘vehicle’ and ‘loans against gold jewellery’ segments displayed robust credit growth.
