Natural Gas futures trade lower on subdued demand
Natural Gas futures traded in red on MCX on account of weak demand. India’s natural gas consumption fell 7.5 per cent in the first 10 months (January to October) of the calendar year 2025, despite the government’s efforts to boost demand to increase the fuel’s share in the total energy mix. The country’s gas demand was 56,760 million metric standard cubic metre (Mmscm) during January to October 2025, significantly lower than the 61,368 Mmscm in the same period last year.
The contract for December delivery was trading at Rs 415.80 down by 1.14 % or Rs 4.80 from its previous closing of Rs 420.60. The open interest of the contract stood at 17403 lots.
The contract for January delivery was trading at Rs 385.10 down by 0.80% or Rs 3.10 from its previous closing of Rs 388.20. The open interest of the contract stood at 9214 lots on MCX.
