• Equity benchmark Nifty bounced back into positive territory, recovering more than half a percent from its intraday low, supported by short covering on the August series F&O expiry day. Bargain hunting at lower levels also aided sentiment as global markets advanced, led by a rebound in chipmakers, while easing bond yields provided additional support after Brent crude slipped below $90 a barrel. The Nifty gained 0.2%, or 41 points, to close at 24,260 after touching an intraday low of 24,116.
• Fertilizer stocks emerged as the biggest gainers, rising as much as 12%, with FACT surging 12%, after Russian President Vladimir Putin assured India of uninterrupted fertilizer supplies. The Nifty Capital Market, Consumer Durables and Pharma indices also gained up to 1%. Auto stocks witnessed fresh buying at lower levels, led by TVS Motor, M&M and Bajaj Auto. Declining crude prices, strength in global markets and encouraging quarterly results continued to support overall market sentiment.
• Within the pharma space, Laurus Labs, Divi’s Laboratories, Biocon and Zydus Lifesciences advanced as much as 4%. Market participants are also keeping an eye on several key global developments this week, including the US consumer confidence data due today, Nvidia’s quarterly results tomorrow, the release of the US Federal Reserve meeting minutes on Thursday, and the possibility of fresh US economic sanctions against Iran.
Technical Outlook:
• Nifty index opened negative but absorbed the initial hour’s weakness and improved sentiment till mid day and was followed by some range bound move. It witnessed a strong bout of buying in the last hour and it went on to cross 24250 zones. It formed a bullish candle on the daily frame and closed near its higher band. Now it has to hold above 24300 zones for an up move towards 24450 then 24550 zones while support can be seen at 24200 then 24100 zones.
• S&P BSE Sensex index opened on a slightly negative note and witnessed some selling pressure till midday as it slipped towards 77100 zones. In the latter part of the day the index witnessed a V shaped recovery towards the day's high above 77500 zones as bulls defended support levels. It formed a bullish candle on the daily chart with a longer lower shadow indicating buying interest from lower levels. The index reclaimed its 50 DEMA and now it has to hold above 77600 zones for a bounce towards 78000 then 78200 levels while on the downside support is seen at 77400 then 77200 zones.
Derivative Outlook:
• Nifty future closed positive with gains of 0.51% at 24333 levels. Positive setup seen in Paytm, Idea, Laurus Labs, HDFC AMC, Mazdock, AU Bank, Divis Labs, Apollo Hospitals, TVS Motors and Lodha while weakness seen in Federal Bank, Motherson, Hind Zinc, RVNL, Coal India, Dabur, Crompton, Force Motors, ONGC and Wipro.
• On option front, Maximum Call OI is at 24500 then 24300 strike while Maximum Put OI is at 24200 then 24000 strike. Call writing is seen at 24500 then 24800 strike while Put writing is seen at 24200 then 24100 strike. Option data suggests a broader trading range in between 23900 to 24700 zones while an immediate range between 24100 to 24500 levels.
• Suzlon Energy – Company has secured a 250 MW wind order from Torrent Green Energy, its sixth order from the Torrent Group,
• IDBI Bank – Company said the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management is handling its disinvestment process. The lender added that no price-sensitive information or announcement is pending disclosure.
• Natco Pharma – Company’s subsidiaries have invested $14 million in US-based biotechnology company eGenesis. The latest transaction takes their total investment in eGenesis to $22 million.
• ACME Solar – Company has secured 300 MW capacity in a tender issued by the Solar Energy Corporation of India at a tariff of Rs 6 per kilowatt-hour.
• Federal Bank Looking to Take Controlling Stake in Jana SFB: CNBC – The founder of Jana Small Finance Bank will likely sell entire 16.9% stake, while Federal Bank is expected to make an open offer after buying the shares.
• Ceigall India – Company said the company aims to close three hybrid annuity model deals by March, including the Bathinda deal in September. The company plans to enter one or two states each year. Renewables account for 21% of its business, while developer projects form 70% of the order book.
Global Market Update
• European Market – European stocks gained as a pullback in oil prices offered some relief from inflation concerns and bond market pressures that have weighed on the region in recent sessions. UK, Germany and France Index gained up to 0.5%.
• Asian Market – Asian shares were mostly higher Tuesday after U.S. stocks drifted to a mixed finish ahead of potentially market-moving events later in the week. Oil prices fell back after U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced fresh sanctions against Iran and warned that countries persisting in doing business with the Islamic Republic would face retaliation.
• US Data – ADP weekly employment change
• Commodity – Crude prices declined 1% to below $92/bbl as the US ramped up economic pressure on Iran and its trading partners in a bid to force the resumption of energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz.
