Laser Power & Infra has secured contracts aggregating to Rs 72.76 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID). The contracts are for the supply of High Temperature Low Sag (HTLS) conductors and the reconductoring of two existing 132 kV transmission lines under the North Eastern Region Expansion Scheme-XXIV (NERESXXIV). The project covers around 164 circuit-km of existing transmission corridors and is to be completed within 12 months from the Notification of Award.
The award represents the company’s first commercial order for the supply of HTLS conductors, marking the transition of its HTLS technology from product development and qualification to commercial execution. Through its licensing arrangement with TS Conductor, USA, the company has access to an advanced conductor platform. Participation in this specialised segment involves significant product-testing, utility qualification and execution requirements.
The integrated nature of the POWERGRID mandate, covering both conductor supply and reconductoring services, brings together the company’s capabilities across engineering, manufacturing, supply, installation and commissioning. It provides the company with an opportunity to take advanced conductor technology from manufacturing through to on-ground execution.
