• Global agencies see India’s growth ringing louder; raise FY27 GDP forecasts on upbeat demand and investment sentiment: India’s FY27 growth outlook has received upgrades from the OECD, Asian Development Bank, S&P Global Ratings and Fitch Ratings, with forecasts now ranging from 6.9% to 7.1% amid strong domestic demand, investment, services and exports. The revisions follow 7.8% GDP growth in the June quarter, though institutions flagged risks from geopolitical uncertainty, weather disruptions and rising inflation, with some expecting the RBI to raise interest rates.
Global News
• Global markets cautious as bond yields surge and Middle East tensions persist: Global markets remained cautious on Thursday as a sell-off in U.S. Treasuries pushed Japanese bond yields to multi-year highs, with Japan’s 10- year JGB yield rising 8 bps to 3.06%, its highest since 1996, while the U.S. 10- year Treasury yield held near 5.11%. Higher bond yields, persistent inflation concerns and expectations of further central-bank rate hikes weighed on risk sentiment, keeping Asian equities mixed, with MSCI Asia ex-Japan down 0.64%, Nikkei up 1.73% and Australia’s ASX 200 down 1.2%. Meanwhile, Middle East tensions kept oil prices elevated despite easing from recent highs, with Brent at $102.05 and WTI at $91.48, while investors also monitored U.S.- China trade discussions between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping. The dollar remained supported as a safe-haven asset, while markets awaited U.S. jobless claims and further Fed commentary for clues on the interest-rate outlook.
