JSW Energy surges on commissioning First 80 MW Unit of 240 MW Kutehr Hydroelectric Power Plant

JSW Energy is currently trading at Rs. 530.85, up by 19.35 points or 3.78% from its previous closing of Rs. 511.50 on the BSE.
The scrip opened at Rs. 515.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 533.75 and Rs. 513.00 respectively. So far 219554 shares were traded on the counter.
The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 804.95 on 24-Sep-2024 and a 52 week low of Rs. 419.10 on 17-Feb-2025.
Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 533.75 and Rs. 509.25 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 92893.89 crore.
The promoters holding in the company stood at 69.27%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 23.80% and 6.93% respectively.
JSW Energy has commissioned the first 80 MW unit of its 240 MW (3 x 80 MW) Kutehr Hydroelectric Power Plant. The plant is situated in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh and is amongst one of the fastest built greenfield hydro projects in India. Power dispatch to Haryana has commenced, marking a key step for the project.
Second 80 MW unit has already been synchronised with the grid and is undergoing trial run, while the last unit is expected to be synchronised soon. The Kutehr project is backed by a long-term Power Purchase Agreement with Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC) for the entire 240 MW at a levelized ceiling tariff of Rs 4.50/kWh, valid for 35 years with provisions for extension. Power generated will supply Haryana’s state distribution utilities - Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam. With this capacity addition, the installed hydro capacity stands at 1,471 MW, solar at 2,157 MW, Wind at 3,562 MW, taking the share of renewables to 56%.
The company has total locked-in generation capacity of 30.3 GW comprising of 12.8 GW operational, 12.9 GW under-construction across thermal and renewable and has pipeline of 4.6 GW. The company also has 29.4 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through hydro pumped storage projects of 26.4 GWh and battery energy storage system of 3.0 GWh. The company aims to reach 30 GW generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by FY 2030 and achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
