Instamart`s `Switch` Makes a Case for Breaking Everyday Shopping Habits

We all have products we reach for almost automatically like the snack we have always bought, the brand we grew up with, or the staple that has quietly become a permanent fixture in our shopping baskets. While familiarity makes these choices easy, it can also keep us from discovering something different or better.

Instamart’s latest campaign takes this everyday consumer behaviour and gives it a playful spin with ‘Switch’, its platform-wide proposition that encourages consumers to look beyond their usual picks and discover better, more differentiated products across everyday categories.

The film opens with a woman seemingly reminiscing about having tea with her husband every day for nearly 25 years. The scene then cuts to reveal the unexpected reality: she is sitting on her porch with a large heap of off-the-shelf namkeen beside her. The nostalgia takes another turn when an Instamart delivery partner notices the quantity of the same snack she has apparently been buying for years. His amused observation, “Whole life with the same snack only?” makes her pause and reconsider a choice she has made almost entirely out of habit. He introduces her to a palm-oil-free alternative, showing how a small switch can open the door to a different, potentially better choice.

The film is built around a simple insight: sometimes, we stick with what we know simply because it is what we have always known. Through humour and an instantly recognisable situation, the campaign challenges that behaviour without taking the everyday act of shopping too seriously.

Speaking about the campaign, Mayur Hola, Head of Brand, Swiggy, said,“A lot of our everyday choices are driven by habit. We buy the same things because we know them, not necessarily because we have stopped to consider whether there might be something better. With Switch, we wanted to take that very human behaviour and turn it into something simple, relatable and fun. The idea is not to tell consumers what to choose, but to encourage them to explore what else is out there. Sometimes, all it takes is a small switch to discover something better.”

Using humour and a familiar everyday situation, the film brings a larger shopping insight to life: good choices can become better choices when we are willing to look beyond what we already know. The film closes with Instamart’s promise of “Better products at better prices,” reinforcing the role of Switch in helping consumers discover more differentiated products without making everyday shopping more complicated.
