India sees 15.52% rise in merchandise exports in June despite global challenges
The commerce ministry in its latest data has showed that India’s merchandise exports rose by 15.52 per cent to $40.41 billion in June 2026 as compared to $34.98 billion in June 2025, driven by sustained shipments across key sectors despite broader global economic challenges. Merchandise imports grew by 31 per cent year-on-year to $70.84 billion in June 2026, up from $54.08 billion in June 2025. Trade deficit (difference between imports and exports) widened to $30.43 billion in June 2026 as compared to $19.12 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
According to the data, merchandise exports during April-June 2026-27 were $129.32 billion as compared to $111.57 billion during April-June 2025-26. Merchandise imports during April-June 2026-27 were $216.18 billion as compared to $180.31 billion during April-June 2025-26. Merchandise trade deficit during April-June 2026-27 was $86.86 billion as compared to $68.75 billion during April-June 2025-26.
Non-petroleum and non-gems & jewellery exports in June 2026 were $33.13 billion compared to $28.73 billion in June 2025. Non-petroleum and non-gems & jewellery exports in April-June 2026-27 were $99.04 billion, compared to $87.88 billion in April-June 2025-26. Non-petroleum, non-gems & jewellery (gold, silver & precious metals) imports in June 2026 were $48.25 billion compared to $36.73 billion in June 2025. Non-petroleum, non-gems & jewellery (gold, silver & precious metals) imports in April-June 2026-27 were $140.22 billion, compared to $117.92 billion in April-June 2025-26.
