India's EV retail sales jump 52.9% in August: FADA
Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has said that India’s electric vehicle (EV) retail sales increased 52.9 per cent year-on-year to 2,98,448 units in August 2026. It said overall EV market penetration expanded to 12.3 per cent during the month, up from 9.5 per cent in August 2025.
FADA said the two-wheeler segment led the growth, with retail sales rising 67.05 per cent to 1,83,204 units in August 2026 from 1,09,673 units a year earlier. Electric passenger vehicle (PV) retail sales were up 51.88 per cent at 30,696 units in August 2026 as against 20,210 units in August 2025.
It said electric three-wheeler sales also registered strong growth of 25.28 per cent, rising to 79,846 units in August 2026 from 63,736 units in the corresponding month last year. Electric commercial vehicle (CV) retail sales almost tripled at 4,702 units in August 2026 from 1,631 units in August 2025.
