`Hero` fame Meenakshi Sheshadri opens up about Bollywood comeback
80’s Bollywood diva Meenakshi Sheshadri who rose to fame with 1983’s one of the biggest hit “Hero” spoke to ANI in a special interview on February 29 in Mumbai. The movie starred her and Jackie Shroff in the titular role and was directed by ace director Subhash Ghai. Meenakshi was last seen on the screen in 1997 in the film “Do Rahain” helmed by ‘Swades’ actor Lekh Tandon. She moved to the USA after her marriage to banker Harish Mysore. Recently she has come back from America and is looking forward to working in Bollywood again. In his special interaction with ANI, the “Shahenshah” actress said, “I was waiting for my inner voice to tell me to revamp the artist in me and the soil of my country draw me back. I have my family’s support. I have come back here and living in India.”Talking about her entry into the Hindi cinema, she said, “Subhas Ghai saw some rushes of my first film “Painter Babu” and decided that I would be the ‘Radha’ of his film ‘Hero’. I also congratulated Mr. Subhash Ghai as ‘Hero’ and completed its 50th year on December 2023.”Talking about her choice of roles, she said, “I wanted to do different kind of roles. I didn’t want to be type-casted. I want to be undefinable in my second innings of Bollywood.”
