DSP Mutual Fund releases `Thodi Meherbaniyan`, a five-part documentary series on everyday acts of kindness

DSP Mutual Fund has released Thodi Meherbaniyan, a five-part documentary series featuring people and communities for whom caring for animals or people has quietly become a part of everyday life.

These stories span different forms of kindness - from caring for animals and supporting people who may need companionship, to communities coming together to solve problems around them. The first episode features Deepa Talib, founder of the Anubis-Tiger Foundation. Her work with abandoned breed dogs began after the loss of a street dog she had tried, but was unable, to save.

The other films feature a family that shares its small home with more than 17 rescued cats and looks after many others; two friends who spend their time supporting homeless people, children and the elderly; a former video-game developer whose work feeding and rescuing street animals eventually led him to set up an affordable veterinary clinic; and a group of people from different walks of life who came together through a WhatsApp group to feed, protect and arrange medical care for street dogs.

Commissioned by DSP Mutual Fund and produced by Ruminator Studios, the approximately 10–12-minute films follow real people in their own environments and largely unscripted situations. The series is hosted by digital content creator and animal welfare advocate Aditya Saran.

An original song of the same name, Thodi Meherbaniyan, connects the five films. A lyrical music video featuring moments from all five documentaries has also been released. The song has been composed and performed by singer-songwriter Kanishk Seth, with lyrics by Yashwardhan Goswami. It draws on themes that emerged from the stories featured - kindness, empathy, care and the connections between people, animals and communities. While the lyrical video has been released on DSP Mutual Fund’s YouTube channel, Stories For Good, the song will also be available through Kanishk Seth’s artist profile on major music-streaming platforms including Spotify, Gaana and Apple Music.

Abhik Sanyal, Executive Director & Head of Marketing, DSP Mutual Fund, said: “We spend a lot of time trying to get people’s attention towards the right mindset and behaviours for good investing outcomes. But as a well-recognized brand with a voice and a platform, I feel it is also our responsibility to do much more than just that - especially when we can put something meaningful into the world that aligns so closely with DSP’s philosophy of positively impacting every life. That is what Thodi Meherbaniyan is about: simply sharing stories of ordinary people doing small things that matter. If someone watches them and feels like doing one kind thing they may otherwise not have done, I’d say that’s a pretty good outcome.”

Thodi Meherbaniyan is part of DSP Mutual Fund’s All Heart Project, through which the asset management firm plans to tell and support stories of kindness. The remaining four documentary films will be released on Stories For Good, DSP Mutual Fund’s YouTube channel, over the next four weeks. Related content will also appear on DSP Mutual Fund’s social channels.
