“With only around 0.95% of registered MSMEs participating in exports, the move could unlock global market access for Indian manufacturers and boost the country's manufacturing capacity. By enabling e-commerce entities to procure and export domestically manufactured goods, it shifts compliance, logistics and payment burdens from small manufacturers to scaled export intermediaries.
Clear guidance on what qualifies as ‘domestically manufactured or produced goods’, especially where imported inputs, contract manufacturing or assembly are involved, will be critical to effective implementation.
This could also set the stage for further policy reforms in digital commerce, warehousing and logistics space."
