ARCIL appoints Phanindranath Kakarla as Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director
Asset Reconstruction Company (India) Limited (ARCIL), India’s pioneer asset reconstruction company, today announced the appointment of Phanindranath Kakarla as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, effective March 8, 2026. He succeeds Pallav Mohapatra, who steps down following the completion of his term as CEO & MD under the company’s planned leadership succession transition.
ARCIL has been an institution in India’s stressed asset resolution ecosystem since its inception in 2002 and continues to play a critical role in supporting banks and financial institutions in addressing non-performing assets.
Mr. Kakarla brings expertise in acquisition and resolution of stressed assets. Prior to his appointment, he served as President at ARCIL, where he worked closely with the leadership team on strategic initiatives, business expansion and operational transformation. Earlier, he held senior leadership role in the Edelweiss Group. During his tenure, he oversaw key strategic functions spanning finance, operations, corporate services and business transformation across the group. Mr. Kakarla joined ARCIL on April 2, 2025, as President under a Board-approved succession plan in order to overlap with Mr. Mohapatra for a sufficient period for continuous and smooth transition.
Since assuming office in March 2021, Pallav Mohapatra has provided strategic leadership to ARCIL. With a career spanning over four decades in the Indian banking and financial services industry, he played a key role in strengthening ARCIL’s operational capabilities, reinforcing governance frameworks and sharpening the organisation’s growth initiatives within the asset reconstruction ecosystem.
Phanindranath Kakarla, CEO & Managing Director, ARCIL, said “I am honoured to take on the responsibility of leading ARCIL at an important stage in its journey. ARCIL has played a pioneering role in shaping India’s asset reconstruction industry and remains a strategic partner for banks and financial institutions. My focus will be to build on ARCIL’s leadership position and deliver long term value for all stakeholders”
Commenting on the development, Narayanan Subramaniam, Chairman, ARCIL, said “We are delighted to welcome Mr. Phanindranath Kakarla as CEO & Managing Director. With his leadership experience and deep understanding of financial services and asset resolution, we are confident he will lead ARCIL into its next phase of growth and value creation. This is part of the succession plan as envisaged by the Board over the last year. We sincerely thank Mr. Mohapatra for his leadership and contributions during a transformative phase for ARCIL.”
