* Rating firms such as ICRA, India Ratings, Care, and Acuite are assessing multiplepressurepointsfor companies vulnerable to currency market gyrations in order to assess their resilience as therupee approaches 80 against the US dollar.

* The European Union has proposed separate chapters on sustainable food systems, energy and rawmaterials in its free trade agreement (FTA) with India. Part of the proposal has sought profitablefood systems, inclusion of environmental performance, methane emissions measurementstandards and facilitating trade and investment in energy and raw materials.

* India's electronic goods exports increased by over 42% to nearly Rs 1.17 lakh crore in the previousfiscal year, the government reported to Parliament on Wednesday. In the recent five years, thecountry has seen a significant increase in both electronic goods manufacture and exports,according to Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and InformationTechnology.

* Consistent volume declines, particularly in rural regions, are raising concern, and inflation hasaggravated the situation, according to Hindustan Unilever managing director Sanjiv Mehta, whourged policymakers to manage interest rates without choking growth.

* Higher prices of certain food items have pushed the retail inflation for farm workers and rurallabourers to 6.43 per cent and 6.76 per cent, respectively, in June.

* Chinese banks held their main lending rates steady in the absence of more easing from thecentral bank, which is trying to strike a balance between preventing faster inflation andsupporting the economy.

* The US 10-year benchmark note rate is at 3.004%, dropping two and a half bps, as traders seeksafety towards cash and US Treasuries.

As has been the stance all through the last two days, we will continue our vigil along this the 79.85-80.15 band before playing directional moves, with 79.95 continuing to be a crucial pivot.
