Overview

Elon Musk is the man behind the making of Tesla variants. The Tesla Model 3 is considered the most awaited electric car created by the automobile manufacturer of America. Tesla offers five models in the Indian market such as the Model 3, Model S, Model Y, Roadster, and Model X. Model 3 of Tesla has three variants- Standard Plus, Long Range AWD, and Performance. The maximum speed of the models is as follows:

• Performance model ranges from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds only.
• The Standard model ranges from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds.
• The Long-range model ranges from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

The launch date of the Tesla Model 3 is expected to be on 11th November 2021. The expected price of Model 3 is to be a whopping amount of Rs. 75 lakhs. 

Design

Tesla Model 3 has a thoughtful and user-oriented design that offers a wide range of capabilities. Most of its style cues and design are inspired by Tesla Model S. 

For convenience and comfort, the features offered in Tesla are Electric Power Steering, Interior Air Filtration, Rear View Camera, Door Pockets in the front and rear, parking sensors in the front and rear, Telescopic and tilt Steering Wheel, Front Climate Control-dual zone, Vanity Mirrors- Dual Illuminating, Electrochromatic Inside the Rearview Mirror, and audio controlling system on the Steering wheel. Some key features are the heated mirrors, power windows-one touch, keyless remote door locks, and curb view in reverse provided by the reverse tilt mirrors. All the Tesla Model variants are available in red multi-coat, midnight silver metallic, pearl-white multi-coat, solid-black, and deep blue metallic.

Cabin

The infotainment features available are 15 total speakers, FM/AM stereo, USB connection, and 1 Subwoofer. The cabin has other features like compass, clock, a height-adjustable seat for driver and passenger, bucket front seats, leatherette, heating driver and passenger seats (multilevel), legroom and headroom in the front and rear, power passenger and driver seat (8-way), driver and passenger seats with lumbar support, shoulder room in the front, hip room in the front, and Rear Seatback having Split-Folding.

Drive experience

The driving experience of Tesla Model 3 is clean and smooth. The performance is impressive in all weather conditions. The regenerative braking is weaker but the steering mode is sporty. It can improvise in the future dual-motor variants that can better the performance.

Pros

• App-based start-up and entry

Tesla links the app on your smartphone into an entry key. The trouble of pushing buttons or unlocking doors is not there. To start the car, just step on the pedal brake. The parking process on reaching the destination is also made convenient where you can conveniently shift the Model 3 in the Park mode and leave. The smart technology of the car knows when you step away. The car doors automatically turn off and on that is impressive. Tesla successfully omits unnecessary steps to provide a hassle-free experience. 

• Huge Center Screen 

The 15-inch screen control is one of the most impressive interior designs of the Tesla Model 3. The skillful interface designers went beyond the best-in-class navigation feature. This allows a better understanding of the state-of-charge and in planning out when to plugin as per the trips. The large screen also lets you peep from the outside to view the time remaining for charging and the charging speed. 

• Flush Door Handles

The Flush door handles helps in maximizing the EV range (slippery aerodynamic are important). Tesla Model 3 provides drag co-efficiency that is the lowest in the automobile industry. It also gives a completely sleek look that makes it a worthy innovation. 

• Huge Panoramic Sunroof made of glass

All the Tesla variants provide premium interior and design along with the panoramic sunroof made of glass. You can enjoy the landscape along the drive that is a brilliant feeling.

• Scroll Wheels on Steering Wheel

Some pieces of the dashboard hardware are small scroll wheels that look elegant. They are also multi-functional and useful. Certain multi-functions of one button are: using your thumb to turn the volume down and up, controlling the cruise speed, and clicking it right or left for adjusting the side mirror can be done with ease. These driving functions work just like computers clickable and scrolling mouse that is also multi-functional.

• Auto-Pilot

Auto-Pilot is one of the most interesting features offered by Tesla. It is an innovative and thrilling experience to test the different types of situations on road. It gives a playful feeling and one of the best technologies incorporated in the model.

Cons

• Car charging: it is inconvenient to stop the car at regular intervals for charging. The car has to be charged after covering 500 miles. 
• Regular unplugging and plugging: the car takes 30-40 seconds, every time you start or stop it. It is not a smooth experience, as it might take longer sometimes. The pickup time is not quick that reflects the quality of the engine.
• High maintenance: It is a high maintenance car that required regular servicing, the cost of which is too high.

Verdict

All variants of the Tesla Model 3 give a sportier suspension. It also has a track driving mode that attracts drivers. The base model gives a driving range of 263 miles and the Long-range model offers 353 miles when charged.
