Coal India gains as its production rises to 40.7 MT in September

Coal India is currently trading at Rs. 190.25, up by 1.65 points or 0.87% from its previous closing of Rs. 188.60 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 192.65 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 193.35 and Rs. 189.35 respectively. So far 463924 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 195.80 on 29-Sep-2021 and a 52 week low of Rs. 109.50 on 15-Oct-2020.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 195.80 and Rs. 165.45 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 116845.33 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 66.13%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 28.17% and 5.69% respectively.

Coal India’s (CIL) coal production has registered a marginal rise to 40.7 million tonnes (MT) in September, 2021. The development assumes significance in the wake of country's power plants grappling with coal shortages. The company’s production had stood at 40.5 MT in September 2020. The company’s production in the April-September 2021 period increased 5.8 per cent to 249.8 MT, compared with 236 MT in the year-ago period.

The company's offtake also increased to 48.3 MT in September, 2021, over 46.7 MT in the corresponding month of the previous financial year. Its offtake in the April-September 2021 period also increased to 307.7 MT over 255.1 MT in the year-ago period.

Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
