Zinc futures were trading lower during the afternoon trade in the domestic market on Friday as speculators cut down positions taking weak cues from the spot market. Marketmen said weakness in metals in domestic spot market owing to slackened demand from consuming industries influenced the prices.
At the MCX, zinc futures for August 2019 contract is trading at Rs 188.70 per kg, down by 0.53 per cent, after opening at Rs 190.00, against a previous close of Rs 189.70. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 188.60 (at 14:50 hours).
