Unofficial bookings have commenced across select dealerships for a token amount ranging between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000
- BS6-compliant Vespa and Aprilia scooters will be available starting next month.
- The increment can be attributed to the changes in the engine, catalytic converter and exhaust.
- Dealerships are currently in the process of clearing existing BS4 stock.
Two-wheeler manufacturers have been scrambling to update their vehicles to meet the BS6 deadline of April 2020. So as to achieve this, each two-wheeler has to be reworked with mechanical parts that are more expensive than the ones in BS4 models. Naturally, a small price hike is inevitable. However, dealer sources across India suggest BS6-compliant Vespa and Aprilia scooters are likely to garner a massive price hike.
While we haven’t managed to get our hands on an official price list, both Vespa and Aprilia scooters are expected to get a price hike of around Rs 18,000 - Rs 19,000. Select dealerships across India have already started accepting unofficial bookings for the scooters for a token amount ranging between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000. They will be available across India starting next month. The hefty increment can be attributed to the changes in the engine, catalytic converter and exhaust.
It’s also quite possible that these scooters may see a drop in performance, like most BS6-compliant two-wheelers. For reference, the Honda Activa 125 BS6 makes 8.29PS at 6500rpm, which is 0.34PS less than its predecessor.
Vespa and Aprilia dealerships are currently in the process of clearing their existing stock of BS4-compliant scooters. So could possibly be the right time to strike a good deal.
